Squirrel One POS System Integrates Merchant Link's TransactionVault™
Both Validated by Visa as a Payment Application Best Practice To Help Achieve PCI Compliance
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SILVER SPRING, MD - April 29, 2008 - Merchant Link, a leading payments gateway company, said today that its flagship credit card security product, TransactionVault™, has been integrated with Squirrel Systems' suite of payment solutions, led by SquirrelOne.
Squirrel Systems' fully modular and highly scalable restaurant point-of-sale and management system now includes the Merchant Link security solution, which removes sensitive customer credit card data from the point of sale, and transports it to a safe "vault." SquirrelOne and TransactionVault have both been validated by Visa as a Payment Application Best Practice (PABP), and both help restaurant and lodging clients achieve Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS) compliance.
"Our integrated solution with Squirrel Systems is not only a winner for both companies, but more importantly, for our future joint restaurant clients," said Merchant Link President Christopher Justice. "The combination of SquirrelOne's comprehensive capabilities and TransactionVault's ability to remove sensitive customer credit card data from the point of sale should give any restaurant operator the ultimate confidence that his bottom line and his customers' security are both well-cared for."
Merchant Link will support Squirrel Systems' dealer and sales channels, and conduct joint marketing campaigns with the Vancouver-based company. The TransactionVault driver installation is simple and includes dial backup. The combined point of sale solution offers connectivity to many credit card processors and supports gift cards and American Express Direct.
"With the ever-changing security requirements of the payment card industry, merchants are finding it difficult to keep pace. The SquirrelOne and TransactionVault combination reduces the merchant's exposure to hackers by removing sensitive cardholder data from the POS system," said Squirrel Systems Joe Cortese, vice president, research and development. "Merchant Link's tier 1 secure data center and comprehensive one-to-many payment offering provides a good balance of security and processor selection."
Merchant Link and Squirrel Systems recently completed a successful beta test of the combined SquirrelOne Restaurant Management System -TransactionVault solution with Red Lion Hotels, an operator of more than 50 properties in Canada and the United States.
More than 6,000 restaurants, including major chains, currently use TransactionVault™, Merchant Link's flagship security product, to help them achieve PCI compliance. TransactionVault is a technology that works through the Merchant Link infrastructure at the point of sale. It is an ASP service that houses credit card information in Merchant Link's secure "vault" so that data does not reside in the merchant's system, placing it at risk to hackers
