Epson Partners With Squirrel Systems To Provide Best-Of-Breed POS Solution To Hospitality

LONG BEACH, January 08, 2002 - Epson, the leading supplier of Point-of-Sale (POS) printing solutions, today announced its OEM partnership with Squirrel Systems, a leading provider of restaurant management systems for independent and chain restaurants. As an authorized Epson Acclaim™ OEM partner, Squirrel will purchase product directly from Epson and is entitled to Epson's advanced technical support, marketing support, educational offerings and support services.
Under the terms of the agreement, Squirrel will resell Epson's best-of-breed TM-U200 series of impact and TM-T88 series of thermal receipt printers. The speed, reliability and intuitive ease-of-use features of Epson POS printers strengthen the Squirrel product line that includes Squirrel for Windows NT® and Squirrel Classic® for Windows NT®. Epson has customized its printer firmware to interpret Squirrel application commands for ESC/POS®-Epson's technology foundation for retail printer interfaces-providing customers with the combined benefits of standard Squirrel features and Epson's advanced printing capabilities. In addition to customized firmware, Epson provides product integration services, enabling Squirrel to rapidly assemble, package and ship systems to its large dealer network in both the US and Canada.
