Century Grill Mixologist Wins Top Prize

Bar Manager at SquirrelOne Customer BEYOND Takes the Honor

Squirrel Systems, a leading provider of hospitality management systems is pleased to congratulate bar manager/mixologist extraordinaire Chris Brown of Beyond Restaurant & Lounge. The bar manager of SquirrelOne customer Beyond Restaurant & Lounge located in Vancouver's Century Plaza Hotel recently became the first Canadian to win one of the most prestigious cocktail competitions in the world, the Giffard International Cocktail Challenge in Angiers, France.

This event is hosted by a French company, Giffard that has been making premium liqueurs from natural ingredients since 1885. Brown competed against nine other experts from England, France, Germany & Belgium. Much like the famous Iron Chef competitions, the competitors are given a secret ingredient, in this case a banana-flavored Giffard liqueur called Banane du Bresil. Then they have an hour to come up with an irresistible new cocktail and only seven minutes to mix the final concoction.

Brown's winning recipe is called "Kiwi on the Green" and includes Giffard's Banane du Bresil (banana), Cocogif (coconut), Mangue (Mango) Tropic mixed in a cocktail shaker with kiwi puree and lime juice.

"We're very proud to have customers of this caliber in the Squirrel family," says Linda Gillis, Director of Marketing at Squirrel Systems. "This award is a significant accomplishment and we congratulate Chris on his skill and creativity."

Brown is hopeful that this latest award will encourage more people to experience Beyond's cool and funky space in the Century Plaza Hotel. Beyond has also been recognized for their wine list by the Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival. This is definitely the place to go if you're serious about your libation!
