Wireless "Pay @ Table" Saves $$

Squirrel Systems, Global Payments™ and Ingenico are pleased to announce the deployment of a wireless pay at the table solution at Vancouver's "Watermark on kits beach". Recently installed, this solution integrates payment processing through the Ingenico i7780 wireless hand-held units on the Global Payments platform with the SquirrelOne point of sale system.

Spectacular ocean and skyline views of Vancouver greet diners at Watermark on Kits Beach. A meal at Watermark is as memorable as the setting with an emphasis on "fresh" and a creative approach to cuisine, an organic approach to ingredients and a sustainable approach to the food products used. The new facility includes a large dining room, a huge patio - heated and enclosed for year round enjoyment and a beach level concession stand.

The concession stand operates at full tilt during the summer months generating thousands of transactions daily and employing a staff mostly comprised of part-time teenaged servers. The clientele is also largely younger people, who favor debit as a payment method over cash or credit cards. This customer trend makes this integration critical to Watermark. General Manager, Randy Newburg reports that the integrated debit payment solution is simple to learn and use, reduces keystrokes and eliminates keying errors.

"This solution saves us money," says Randy Newburg. "The integration between SquirrelOne and the Ingenico wireless hand-held unit eliminates any manual data entry and ensures that the correct amount is settled every time. It is error-proof!"

When a restaurant or concession stand guest is ready to settle, the server accesses the Squirrel guest check on the Ingenico unit. The check total comes directly from the point of sale system thus eliminating any opportunity for keying errors. Processing is directly to the Global Payments network from the Ingenico unit with the final payment acknowledgement sent back to Squirrel at the end of the transaction. Partial and multiple payment methods are supported on the system.

Excellent service standards and attention to guest security concerns are also a priority for Watermark. Guests can now settle transactions without losing sight of their card. "Our guests are very aware of the prevalence of debit and credit fraud and are relieved that they no longer have to surrender their cards," says Newburg. "This functionality enhances our service level in the dining room."
