It’s hard to believe that between them, Mitch and Connie Ware, owners of Mezzanotte Ristorante in Albany, NY have over sixty years of restaurant experience. Sicilian born, Connie traveled extensively and experienced many international culinary styles before settling down in Albany. Both Mitch and Connie were disappointed with the dining choices in their area so, decided to open a restaurant that reflected their tastes and culinary experiences.
It’s no surprise that with Connie’s background they decided to open an Italian restaurant. Starting from the ground up, they toiled with every detail from the construction to the name to create the elegant, romantic and authentically Italian restaurant that they called Mezzanotte or ‘midnight’.
The restaurant is located in one of the area’s most pleasant settings and is known by the locals for its knowledgeable staff and superb dining. The menu features a wide array of great selections, made from only the freshest and highest quality ingredients. The menu includes many of the traditional items you’d expect in an Italian restaurant but with very unique presentations like Tagliatelle con Arogosta - pasta with lobster in a vanilla cream sauce or Capesante – seared diver scallops with autumn squash risotto. Mezzanotte has established itself as one of the area’s favorite culinary destinations.
When opening their restaurant, one of the major details for Mitch and Connie was the selection of a point of sale system. After significant research and consideration they selected SquirreOne as their restaurant management system. “We did consider other systems,” states Mitch Ware. “When we began reviewing alternatives against our operational requirements, SquirrelOne was clearly the best solution.”
Mezzanotte uses the latest version of SquirrelOne point of sale. As well, the restaurant uses Squirrel Time & Attendance, Labor scheduling and payment card processing. When making their initial decision to purchase SquirrelOne, the feature that the busy couple liked the best was the ability to access the system remotely.
With Mitch being an avid race car driver, weekend jaunts to car racing events meant that configuration changes to the system are often taken care of from where ever he happens to be. “It’s important for us to be able to access our system while traveling,” says Mitch Ware. “With Squirrel it’s like I’m sitting in the restaurant office no matter where I happen to be. I can do whatever I need to do anytime from anywhere.”
Ware goes on to say, “Our experience with Squirrel has been flawless. There has been zero down-time and any issues that have arisen were dealt with efficiently by the Squirrel Solution Center. The Squirrel system is a very good fit for our operation.”
Mezzanotte recently celebrated its two year anniversary and has become an award-winning Albany favorite. In the future, the couple plan to implement Squirrel’s gift card solution. They also haven’t ruled out expanding their operation to include another restaurant concept.
